Narcotics Interdiction

Narcotics Interdiction

Catching the first recorded balloon swallower (Internal Swallower / Internal Carrier) in the history of Narcotics Interdiction in 1979, was just the turning point and the birth of the U.S. Customs Rover Team, and eventually Rovertech International.

As passengers smuggling narcotics into the United States concealed in bags and cargo, and on their bodies (Narcotics Body Carriers), then rookie customs officer Prospero Ellis, realized that observing and analyzing the behavior of the passenger was many times more effective in intercepting narcotics than going through the manual searches that led to disgruntled passengers and ineffective results. Instead of asking the same old questions that are taught at the academy, or worst, as some officers used race, country of origin, or simply the way they looked as the basis for them stopping a passenger to “Find out what they had.” He decided to approach Narcotics Interdiction in a new way by Observing and Analyzing the Deceptive Behavior of the Narcotic Smugglers as a simple technique to target the minute percentage of Narcotic Smugglers from the clear majority of innocent travelers.

Narcotics Interdiction and Behavior Analysis

Finding out the thin line, between truth and deception, in a setting where you are observing thousands of passengers at a time; can seem almost impossible to the untrained eye and is the first step to Narcotics Interdiction. But once you listen to his story, and experience the everyday lessons that we inadvertently overlook, you realize how simple it is to know for certain, when someone is lying to you, and when someone’s behavior, even when hiding among the crowd simply jumps out at you and lets you know their intentions. Narcotics Interdiction at Airports, Sea Ports, Rail, and Bus Stations requires a clear understanding of Human Behavior, and there is no better way to learn it than from the one who started Observational Techniques and Behavior Analysis for U.S. Customs..
